The Statesboro Family YMCA will host the 3rd Annual Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat, but this year…it will be a family friendly fall festival on Saturday, October 29th 4 pm – 6 pm.
Local businesses and organizations will host trunks to hand out candies and goodies, the Exercise Science club from Georgia Southern University will host a haunted house, as well as lawn activities. Costumes are optional. There will be a costume contest at the event as well as on the Statesboro Family YMCA’s Facebook and Instagram page.
The Trunk or Treat event is designed to provide community members with a safe alternative to door-to- door trick or treating.
“I love this event, it is so great to see all of the amazing families and see the smiles on the kids’ faces,” said Hannah Beggs, Executive Branch Director. “Last year we had 25 community organizations decorate their trunks and provide candy to over 700 kids. I am looking forward to the overwhelming community support again this year”.
Organizations or businesses that are interested in decorating a trunk and passing out candy can contact Hannah Beggs via email at hannah.beggs@ymcaofcoastalga.org or call the Statesboro YMCA at (912) 225-1962.
Organizations are asked to bring at least 5-7 bags of candy with them and arrive no later than 3:00 PM on the day of the event to set up. The business or organization with the best decorated truck will receive a YMCA gift bask with a FREE 1 month YMCA membership.
The Statesboro Family YMCA is also accepting individually wrapped/pre-packaged candy for the event. Donated candy can be dropped off at the Statesboro Family YMCA Welcome Center located at 409 Clairborne Ave.
The Statesboro Family YMCA is open Monday –Friday 5 am – 9pm, Saturday 7am – 6pm or Sunday 12 pm – 6pm.
