$20K Reward Offered for Man Accused of Shooting Detention Officer in GA, Killing Another

A man accused of shooting a detention officer in Georgia and killing another person is still on the run.

Authorities issued a Blue Alert on Friday, November 4 after Brentson Bernard Thomas, 32, shot a Henry County Sheriff’s Office detention officer and killed another man at an apartment complex in Henry County. The incident happened around noon.

Thomas then fled in a Toyota Camry, though he has since abandoned that vehicle and his whereabouts remain unknown. Investigators located the car on Saturday but did not say where.

He is wanted out of Clayton County and Miami-Dade County in Florida as well. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

The injured detention officer, now only identified as ‘Detention Officer Williams,’ remains in critical condition at the hospital.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and CrimeStoppers Atlanta are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Bernard. The Sheriff’s Office is contributing $15,000 and CrimeStoppers has pitched in an additional $5,000.

A BLUE ALERT has been issued for Brenston Bernard Thomas, age 32. Thomas is a black man, 5’11”, 175 lbs., brown eyes, and brown short hair. Thomas has a beard and a New Orleans Saints tattoo on his neck.

Thomas was last seen at 4007 Haddon Place in McDonough, Henry County, GA, where he is suspected of shooting a Henry County Sheriff’s Office detention officer on November 4, 2022 at 12:00 pm.

Thomas was wearing gray sweatpants and a dark colored hoodie. He may be traveling in a 2020 dark gray Toyota Camry, GA license plate CKD8148.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Thomas or any information pertinent to this investigation should call 911 or the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 770-288-7103.
