The Statesboro Fire Department is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The grant, totaling $2,108,938.32, will be used to hire 12 new firefighters for the department.
“This grant will allow the department to respond to emergencies more efficiently and provide improved outcomes in terms of lives and property saved,” said Statesboro Fire Chief Tim Grams. “Hiring these additional firefighters will ensure that the Statesboro Fire Department continues to deliver the highest quality services to the growing Statesboro and Bulloch County community.”
The SAFER Grant was created to provide funding directly to career and volunteer fire departments to maintain or increase operational personnel in their communities. The additional firefighters hired with the grant funds will enhance the Statesboro Fire Department’s ability to comply with staffing, response, and operational standards
