One man has been charged with Rape in an alleged sexual assault which reportedly occurred back in March.
The Statesboro Police Department said officers responded to a location on Jones Mill Road on March 31, 2023 for a reported sexual assault. At the time, an adult female victim was examined at the Teal House and a sexual assault examination was conducted.
Relying on witness testimony and the physical evidence collected, the agency said it identified 25-year-old Dwight Wayne Watkins Jr of Fayetteville, Ga as the suspect.
With the assistance of law enforcement agencies in Fayette and Cobb counties, Watkins was taken into custody and extradited back to Bulloch County.
He has been charged with one count of Rape and remains at the Bulloch County Jail, pending further judicial action.
