A Monday morning fire led to the evacuation of a dozen families and a water issue in Statesboro that led to a water advisory.
Residents in Little Lotts Creek Apartments off of Jones Avenue in Statesboro saw flames near the top of the building just after 9:00 a.m. Monday. The Statesboro Fire Department was quick to respond to the scene, leading all of the residents to make it out safety with no injuries reported.
What actually started the fire is under investigation.

The City of Statesboro announced shortly after that the fire caused an issue, leading to a water advisory. Around 10:30 a.m. the city said on Facebook:
“Due to the amount of water used to fight a fire this morning at Little Lotts Creek Apartments, the city’s water service has been affected. Some customers might experience brown, discolored water. Avoid using hot water when possible to keep discoloration to a minimum. If your water is discolored, you can try running cold water for 15-20 minutes. The city’s Public Utilities Department has started the process of cleaning the water, but it could take up to 24 hours to be completely flushed. The discolored water is safe to drink, but avoid washing clothes until the water is cleared up.”
