Maxine Scoggins of Statesboro, GA was called to her heavenly home on January 26, 2024, after a life full of adventure and laughter. She was 83 years old and leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience and love.
Maxine was born on July 11, 1940, to William and Hattie Bell Joyner of Sardis, GA. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years Chester Scoggins, an infant daughter Maryann Hickman, brothers and sisters; Marvin Joyner, Ethel Weeks, Billy Joyner, Viola Purvis (Bunny-deceased), Davidlee Joyner, Talmadge Joyner (Frances).
She is survived by her devoted children Tammy Wilson (Clyde), Dinah Wallace (Robert-deceased), Tammy Ake (Jeff), Greg Scoggins (Teresa); sisters Martha (Jack- deceased), Jeanelle (Norman- deceased). Forever loved and cherished by her grandchildren Paige Crowe (Jake), Bobby Wallace (Danielle), Amy Ake, Scott Ake, Courtney Timmerman (Fuller), Skyler Wallace, Kasey Anderson (Mark), Dalton Scoggins, Alexis Scoggins. Remembered and honored by 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and life-long friends.
Maxine’s life is marked by her devotion to her family and friends and her ability to fill a room with love and laughter. She enjoyed traveling, Florida beaches, shopping, and spending time with the ones she loved most. Maxine had a unique ability to make everyone around feel loved and welcome.
She will be remembered most for her fun-loving, sassy and mischievous spirit!
She taught us all how to make the most out of life, to overcome hard things, and have fun doing it.
Maxine’s family will honor her life on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The family will receive loved ones at 1:30 and invite you all to celebrate the love and laughter she brought into our lives immediately following the service.
