Bulloch County names new EMA Director

Bulloch County Commissioners have appointed Corey Kemp as the county’s new Emergency Management Agency director.

The appointment was made at their March 19 meeting. Public Safety Director Randy Tillman formally presented Kemp as the nominee after an extensive search.

“For me, working in Bulloch County has always been more than just a job, Kemp said. It’s a dedication to the communities that I serve, a place where many families have established their lives for generations. Protecting this county is a task that I will embrace with enthusiasm. I am grateful for the trust that Director Tillman and the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners have placed in me as Bulloch EMA’s director.”

Kemp has previously served with Georgia Emergency Management Agency where he assisted communities to develop, submit, and manage projects in the Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs. He was the point of contact for communities at the state level for Southeast Georgia. He is also the lead for competitive and large grants. Prior to joining GEMA/HS, he worked for 16 years with the Bulloch County EMS as EMT as well as with the US Army Corps of Engineers as a Program Analysis. He graduated from Columbia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and earned a Master of Public Administration program from Savannah State University.

Bulloch County’s Emergency Management Agency plays a key role in protecting life and property in the event of natural or man-made disasters through planning and prevention. It also coordinates with state, federal, and other local agencies for response and recovery. It also serves a pivotal role to coordinate with federal, state and fellow local agencies during response and recovery.
