In response to the recent hurricane, the Ogeechee River Baptist Association, Southbridge Community Church, and the Georgia Baptist Mission Board have joined forces to launch “Love Statesboro,” a large-scale disaster relief cleanup initiative on Saturday, Nov. 9th to support the residents of Bulloch County.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating event,” said Jeff Parmer, Associational Missionary of the Ogeechee River Baptist Association. “Love Statesboro is a community-wide initiative, and we are deeply grateful to Southbridge Community Church for hosting this event and to the Georgia Baptist Mission Board for helping spread the word across the state.”

They are requesting any local government agencies, nonprofits, churches and community or civic organizations, to join their initiative aims to clear debris, remove fallen trees, and provide critical support to residents impacted by the disaster. Volunteers, including skilled chainsaw crews and heavy equipment operators, are urgently needed to aid in this relief effort.

With this collaborative effort they hope to bring together resources, equipment, and skilled teams to address the ongoing cleanup needs throughout the community. They will be focusing on request for assistance made by citizens through Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, while they were in Statesboro and through Crisis Cleanup.   There are over 100 requests for assistance with debris and trees that have not been completed.

Partnering closely with Bulloch County EMA and Bulloch VOAD,  volunteer teams will be mobilized on Saturday, November 9, at 8 a.m. (Southbridge Community Church, 12376 US Highway 301 South, Statesboro, GA) to assist with cleanup and debris removal operations across affected areas.

The cleanup efforts will focus on deploying compassionate teams to assist homeowners with debris removal and property cleanup.
