Georgia Southern Eagles Have Record-Setting Semester in the Classroom

The over 450 student-athletes who make up the Georgia Southern Athletics Department earned a department-record 3.152 fall semester GPA, as announced Thursday by director of athletics Chris Davis. This GPA breaks the 3.136 mark set last fall. 

For the semester, softball posted the highest team GPA for the department with a 3.67 and men’s tennis had the highest team GPA on the men’s side with a 3.63. Volleyball (3.55) and rifle (3.59) both broke their record for highest fall GPA. 

Overall, 284 student-athletes earned a place on the honor roll (3.0 or higher). Of that group, 113 made the Dean’s List (3.50-3.99) and 60 made the President’s List for earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

Eleven of the 15 programs earned a 3.0 or higher for the fall semester.

• Baseball: 3.39 (17th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Men’s Golf: 3.30 (25th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Men’s Soccer: 38 (8th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Men’s Tennis: 3.63 (26th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Rifle: 3.59 (11th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Softball: 3.67 (29th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Volleyball: 3.55 (31st consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women’s Soccer: 3.58 (14th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women’s Swimming & Diving: 3.45 (35th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
• Women’s Track and Field: 3.35 (9th consecutive semester with 3.0 or higher)
• Women’s Tennis: 3.45 (40th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher)
