Rome City Schools Superintendent, Louis Byars, has determined that all RCS schools will be closed for the day, on Friday, September 3.
Byars’ authorization is offered to allow those who work within the RCS system the time to schedule and acquire the COVID-19 vaccination, should they desire to do so.
RCS will host a vaccination event at the Rome High School College and Career Academy from 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. on that Friday.

Byars’ authorization coincides with Governor Brian Kemp’s directive that state offices take administrative leave on September 3. Kemp’s action was taken to encourage Georgians to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and offered as a “thank you” to those who have already been vaccinated.
Floyd Medical Center is also making it easier for all Rome High football fans to get COVID-19 vaccinations. When you come support the Wolves you can get your first shot Friday night at Barron Stadium.
