Statesboro Family YMCA to host Pink Glow Zumba Party to Benefit Cancer Survivor Program

The Statesboro Family YMCA will host the 2nd Annual Pink Glow Zumba® Party on Friday, October 15th from 6 pm – 9 pm. The entry fee is $10.00 per YMCA member and $15.00 for non-members. The dance party will include light refreshments along with dances led by popular group fitness instructors Rebecca Collins and Jessica Meigs.

This annual fundraiser is held every October to raise money to support the LiveSTRONG® at the YMCA program.

LiveSTRONG® at the YMCA is a small group, evidence-based program that creates a welcoming community in which cancer survivors can improve their strength and physical fitness, diminish the severity of the side effects of therapy, develop supportive relationships, and improve their quality of life.  Any male or female adult, 18 or older, who is living with or beyond cancer treatment is eligible to participate.

“When I found out that our local Y was offering this program, it really felt wonderful to have a resource like this in our community that was specifically targeted to cancer survivors to support us on our journey,” cancer survivor Jill Johns said. “It really felt like an honor and privilege that the LIVESTRONG program was here in Statesboro at the Y, because it makes us feel like we’re a part of a larger family,” said Johns.

Survivors participate in customized exercise regimens designed for their individual needs from certified fitness instructors. There is no cost to participate in the LiveSTRONG® at the YMCA program, and a current YMCA membership is not required to participate. After completing the 12-week program, participants will receive a complimentary 6-month YMCA membership.

Registration for the Pink Glow Zumba® Party can be done daily in person or at the door on the day of the event at the Statesboro Family YMCA located on 409 Clairborne Ave.
