14-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Tuesday’s Triple Shooting in Statesboro

The Statesboro Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the triple shooting that occurred in Statesboro on Tuesday.

The agency says officers responded to a ‘shots fired’ call in Pinewood Manor on Packinghouse Road on January 14. Upon arrival, they discovered 17-year-old Nasir Johnson deceased from gunshot wounds.

Two other males, both 16-years-old, were also found to have sustained gunshot wounds. One was transported to Memorial in Savannah where he remains in stable condition. The second was transported to East Georgia Regional in Statesboro where he was treated and released.

Multiple detectives responded to the scene and began the process of collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Multiple lines of investigation were followed, and it appears that the shootings occurred after a physical altercation between two groups in the complex.

After 24 hours of investigation, detectives, along with members of SPD’s SWAT Team, served a search warrant at an apartment on Brampton Avenue in Statesboro.

Based on the results of the investigation, detectives charged a 14-year-old male juvenile with Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault. The juvenile was transported to Claxton Regional Youth Detention Center where he remains pending further judicial hearings.

Information on this case may be provided to Senior Detective Dustin Cross by phone at 912-764-9911.
