2 Found Dead in Portal Home on Sunday, Bodies Sent to Crime Lab

Two individuals were found deceased in a Portal home on Sunday. The causes of death are now under investigation.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office said Monday morning that the office received a call from a concerned citizen just after 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30. The citizen was requesting a welfare check on an elderly female at a Bowen Road address in the Collins Lake area.

The Portal Police Department responded to the call and, upon arrival, requested assistance from the Fire Department to make entry into the home.

Upon making entry, first responders discovered two deceased individuals.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators responded to the location and began processing the scene. Both of the deceased subjects will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory for autopsy.

BCSO said the manner and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.

Release of any additional information will be pending notifications of next of kin.


Update: The two deceased individuals have been identified as follows: Lillie June Sowell (72 YOA) of a 7357 Bowen Road address (Twin City/Collins Lake) Marion Wade Parker (67 YOA) of a 213 Aycock Street address (Portal) Autopsies have been scheduled for later on this week at which time more information will be released as available.
