Shooting at Prom Part Puts Statesboro High School on Heightened Security Operations This Week

While there is no known specific  threat to students, in an abundance of caution, Statesboro High School will operate with an increased law enforcement presence as students return to school on Monday.

Bulloch County Schools and Statesboro High School administrators were made aware by law enforcement that they responded to an incident at a private community event Saturday evening in Statesboro that involved our students. Administrators are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.

Statesboro High School administrators have taken immediate action. They have identified the students who were directly involved and appropriate measures have been put in place.

School officials have also made faculty and staff aware of the incident, and they are notifying parents and students. The school’s counseling and social and emotional learning faculty will be available to any students who may need help to process their experiences or the news of this incident.

Bulloch County Schools encourages adults and students to say something if they see or hear something. Immediately reporting any concerns to law enforcement is the best action to support safe schools and help prevent misinformation.
