SPD Arrests 17-Year-Old After Discovering Him Under Juvenile’s Bed

A 17-year-old is behind bars following an incident which led to his arrest for child molestation in Statesboro.

The Statesboro Police Department said Thursday that officers were notified on October 30 of a concerned parent who believed her juvenile daughter may have had ‘inappropriate contact with an adult male.’ SPD says the male arranged to sneak into the juvenile’s room that afternoon, prompting law enforcement involvement.

According to the press release:

The mother and juvenile drove to SPD to file a report while officers responded to the apartment, located in the 100 block of Rucker Lane, Statesboro, to clear it. The adult male, Christopher Grant (17, Gordon St, Statesboro) was located hiding under the juvenile’s bed and detained. He was found to be in unlawful possession of a handgun, the serial number of which had been obliterated.

Detectives interviewed the juvenile, other witnesses, and Grant. At the conclusion of the investigation Grant was transported to the Bulloch County Jail on the following charges: Aggravated Child Molestation, Sodomy, Possession of an Article with an Altered Serial Number, Possession of a Handgun by a Person under the Age of 18, and Criminal Trespass.

This case highlights the importance of parental involvement in the lives and activities of children, particularly with social interactions and on social media platforms. The parent in this case noticed suspicious activity and reported it to law enforcement immediately.
