SPD Arrests Former CEO & Bookkeeper of Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County

This is a press release from the Statesboro Police Department

On 5/17/23, SPD detectives were assigned to investigate allegations of financial improprieties involving the former CEO and former bookkeeper for the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County. Current staff at the Boys and Girls Club cooperated fully in the investigation. Probable cause was developed to charge Michael Edgar Jones (53, Statesboro, Ga) and Leslie Jones (42, Statesboro, Ga) with one count each of Theft by Taking- Felony. Both surrendered themselves with the assistance of an attorney today at the Bulloch County Jail.

Bond conditions will be at the discretion of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.

The case will be adjudicated at a later date in the courts . The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this point.
