Statesboro PD Accepting Applications for 2021 Citizens Police Academy

The Statesboro Police Department will be holding its next Citizens Police Academy starting September 7, 2021.

Applications for the Citizens Police Academy are available at the Statesboro Police Department located at 25 West Grady Street. If you would rather print and fill out the application yourself, you can contact the PD and an application will be provided to you. The deadline to turn in a completed application is August 24th.

This year’s Citizens Police Academy will be a 6-week long program consisting of one class a week on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm. The classes cover topics such as patrol, traffic enforcement, investigation, covert operations, and K9 and SWAT teams.

The presentations are slide show/lecture style and will be given by officers and detectives of the Statesboro Police Department. There will also be multiple opportunities for hands-on learning through equipment demonstrations and practical scenarios.

The Citizens Police Academy is free to the public. Seats are limited and will be filled based on a first come/first serve basis. SPD IS ONLY ACCEPTING 15 CITIZENS.

Statesboro Police Department encourages all applicants to be able to commit to the full 6 weeks to get the most out of the program. Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy are eligible to join the Alumni Association for continued learning opportunities and involvement with the Statesboro Police Department.
