Annual Pep Rally Slated for August 2

The Downtown Statesboro Development Authority is kicking off the school year with the F1RST Friday Downtown Pep Rally on Aug. 2nd from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.

The 2024 Downtown Pep Rally is a free public event celebrating local football teams in Bulloch County. Jim Healy, the Operations Manager of the Statesboro Herald, will introduce each of the teams as they take the stage on the courthouse steps. Portal Middle and High school will start the show off at 5:30 p.m., followed by Cheer South at 6 p.m., Southeast Bulloch High School at 6:30 p.m., and Statesboro High School at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to performances by the schools’ marching bands and cheer squads, there will be a variety of local vendors and food trucks that participants can visit throughout the duration of the event. Food and refreshments will be provided for the participating teams, and East Main Street will be closed at 3p.m.
