Senate Study Committee on the Preservation of Georgia’s Farmlands to Hold Fourth Meeting

Through UGA's new Value-Addition Institute for Business Expansion, food processing specialist Kaitlyn Casulli is working with food engineer Kevin Mis Solval and food safety specialist Carla Schwan to provide resources for farmers to move from fresh packing to value-added processing, opening up value-added markets to rural parts of Georgia.

On Monday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m., the Senate Study Committee on the Preservation of Georgia’s Farmlands, chaired by Sen. Billy Hickman (R–Statesboro), will hold its fourth meeting at the Polk County College and Career Academy, Cedartown Campus.

ABOUT THE MEETING:         
During the upcoming meeting, committee members will hear presentations on the topics of the past, present, and future of Georgia’s agriculture industry, conservation efforts and agriculture protection policies. The Senate Study Committee on the Preservation of Georgia’s Farmlands is tasked with studying the conditions, needs, issues and problems related to the preservation of Georgia’s farmlands and recommending any action or legislation.
