Statesboro YMCA’s 2023 Run the Boro 5k Run/Walk Slated for January 28

The YMCA invites the public to participate in Run the Boro 5k Run/Walk. Last year, in 2022 the YMCA was able to host the race with about 150 runners. To kick off the new year, the Statesboro Family YMCA invites people from all over for the 8th Annual “Run the Boro 5k” race on January 28, 2023

From now until January 27th, the entry fee to run/walk the course is $30, after that date, the price increases to $40 on race day. Every runner receives a race bag of swag with discounts from the community of Statesboro. Our goal this year is to raise over $10,000 dollars for the YMCA’s Annual Campaign through participants, donors, and sponsors!

Your gift to the Statesboro Family YMCA makes it possible for everyone in our community to experience the Y. This year 100% of the race proceeds will benefit the Place to Dream Program at the Statesboro YMCA This program is dedicated to placing beds in the homes of children that do not currently have a bed to sleep on. Last year, the Statesboro YMCA was able to place 10 beds in homes that included: a bed frame, mattress, comforter set, a bible, a book, and even a toy. When you give to the Y, you’re giving those in need the opportunity to thrive. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly towards helping children and families in need and helps build a stronger community!

The race will begin at the YMCA in Statesboro at 9AM, runners will then make their way through Statesboro to get to the McTell Trail then back to the YMCA to cross the finish line. There will be vendors and refreshments at the finish line. After everyone finishes, there will be a ceremony for the winners for each age group.

Come and enjoy the fresh air, atmosphere, and the company of other runners/walkers. We look forward to seeing all participants and members that want to come and support our fundraiser by getting your workout in!
