The Bulloch County Board of Education will host its scheduled regular session on Thursday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m., in the boardroom of the school district’s Central Office, located at 150 Williams Road in Statesboro. Prior to the meeting at 6 p.m., the Board will host a reception for outgoing Board members, Mike Sparks and April Newkirk whose terms will end Dec. 30.
Both events are open to the public. Guests should enter the building’s main entrance (A) at the front of the building.Â
Regular session Board meetings include a time on the agenda for public participation. Guests who wish to speak should arrive prior to 6:30 p.m. to sign in on the provided sheet at the podium.
The community can also send public comments to the Board of Education at any time. This can be done either to Board members’ individual email addresses, to the Board’s group email, or to the Board’s attention via Superintendent of Schools Charles Wilson at 912.212.8500 or to the superintendent’s email.
Key topics for the meeting include the following: (1) a vote on the proposed revision to Board Policy IEDA: Recess/Unstructured Break Time; (2) a vote on the proposed extension of the closing date for sale of the former Julia P. Bryant Elementary School property; (3) a vote to approve a bid for the purchase of mobile bathroom units for two elementary schools (Langston and Brooklet); (4) a vote to approve a bid for repair and replacement of the exterior insulation and finish system at two elementary schools (Mill Creek and Brooklet); and (5) a vote to approve a resolution to declare the election results of the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum (E-SPLOST V).
