A dozen elected officials were sworn into office Monday in a ceremony in the old Bulloch County courthouse.
Accompanied by their families and before a packed gallery of supporters, new and returning elected officials took their oaths of office administered by Probate Judge Lorna DeLoach.
Pastor Joe Eason from Nevils Trinity Baptist Church led the ceremony with an invocation and Sheriff Noel Brown, County Commission Chairman David Bennett, Commissioners Ray Davis, Ray Mosley, and Nick Newkirk, Superior Court Judge Ronnie Thompson, Magistrate Judge Karen Jones, District Attorney Robert Busbee, Clerk of Court Heather Banks McNeal, Tax Commissioner Leslie Deal Akins, Coroner Chuck Francis, and County Surveyor John A. Dotson were all sworn into office during the ceremony.
Also in attendance: Screven County Clerk of Court Mandy Howard, retiring Superior Court Judge F. Gates Peed, Superior Court Judge Lovett Bennett Jr, Bulloch County State Court Judge Joseph Cushner, Board of Education members-elect Lisha Nevil and Jennifer Mock, Interim County Manager Cindy Steinmann, County Attorney Jeff Akins, and a host of of county employees and staff from the district attorney’s office.
Judge Lovett Bennett and Judge Michael Muldrew were sworn in on December 20 as was Solicitor General Catherine Sumner. Incoming Superior Court Judge Matt Hube was sworn in Monday by Judge F. Gates Peed following the ceremony in the old courthouse.
