The Housing Authority of the City of Statesboro is pleased to announce and welcome Ms. Monifa Johnson as its new Executive Director. Members of the community are invited to attend one of two welcome receptions to be held for Ms. Johnson on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Statesboro City Hall council chambers located at 50 East Main Street, Statesboro.
“We have confidence in Ms. Johnson’s ability to do an outstanding job with leading the Statesboro Housing Authority forward,” said Housing Authority Board Chairwoman Dorsey Baldwin. “Ms. Johnson has extensive experience in the Public Housing industry. The Board is excited to have her knowledge, skills and expertise here in Statesboro.”
Johnson is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and brings over 15 years of housing authority experience from the Housing Authority of Savannah. Johnson graduated from Tulane University with an undergraduate degree in History and also earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Mercer University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, the Unitarian Universalist Association–CLF and a Silver Life Member of the NAACP.
“I am excited about the leadership and steady growth in the City of Statesboro,” said Johnson. “My experience thus far has been one of welcome and comradery. My vision for the future of the Housing Authority of the City of Statesboro is to develop strategic partnerships with the local government, community and business leaders. I plan to utilize all methods available to the authority to transform and expand affordable housing options to meet the local housing needs of residents.”
