While it was a busy weekend for law enforcement in Bulloch County, alcohol and drug-related arrests were plentiful as agencies were out in full force as Georgia Southern students made their way back to Statesboro.
Roughly fifty percent of the arrests made were related to drugs or alcohol.
The numbers below reflect arrests made by the Statesboro Police Department, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia State Patrol. Any individual who is arrested is presumed innocent unless and until proven otherwise in a court of law.
A total of fifty-eight people were arrested between Friday, August 16 and Sunday, August 18, according to the jail booking report provided by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
- 20 arrests for Driving Under the Influence
- Six of the DUI arrests were individuals under the age of 21
- All but 4 of the 20 were individuals under the age of 30
- 50% of the arrested individuals (10) were Bulloch County residents
- 16 of the arrests were for driving under the influence of alcohol
- 1 of the arrests was for driving under the influence of drugs
- 3 of the arrests were for driving under the influence of a combination of substances.
- 1 arrest for Public Drunkeness
- 1 arrest for Minor in Possession of Alcohol
- 1 arrest for Minor in Possession of Alcohol & Public Drunkenness
- 2 Pedestrian Under the Influence arrests

Five individuals were booked into the jail due to court sentencing and eight others were a result of either turning themselves in or having an outstanding bench warrant for their arrest.
