The defense attorney for Dustin Leigh Cowart asked a Bulloch County Superior Court Judge Tuesday to grant immunity from prosecution because Cowart acted in self-defense the night he shot and killed Ray Clifford “Buddy” Beasley, Jr. That’s what Statesboro attorney Matt Hube told Judge Michael Muldrew in an immunity hearing for which Cowart was present – in his jail scrubs and shackles – on Tuesday.
