Graduation Rates for Bulloch County Tick Upwards, One School Sees Slight Decline

Georgia’s high-school seniors recorded another all-time-high graduation rate in 2024 and, overall, the trend was the same in Bulloch County.

The four-year graduation rate rose to 85.4% — up from 84.4% in 2023, and an all-time high since the state began using the adjusted cohort calculation first required in 2011 by federal law.

A total of 115 Georgia school districts recorded graduation rates at or above 90%, and 44 districts recorded rates at or above 95%. Georgia’s statewide graduation rate has increased by 18 percentage points since 2011.

How Georgia calculates its graduation rate

Georgia calculates a four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate as required by federal law. This rate is:

  • The number of students who graduate in four years with a regular high school diploma, divided by
  • The number of students who form the adjusted cohort for the graduation class.

Regional Comparison

A notable point when considering school systems that declined: it is easier to graduate in the State of Georgia. Georgia eliminated four end-of-course exams in 2020 and now allows districts to count remaining end-of-course exams for as little as 10% of a student’s grade
