Mr. James Robert Giles “Jimmy”, age 79, died February 21, 2021 at the East Georgia Regional

Medical Center in Statesboro. Jimmy taught school and was a basketball coach at Richmond Hill High School for two years and then returned home to Blakely, Ga. to farm along with his brother for many years until becoming the Jail Administrator with the Early County Jail where he served for 10 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, Jimmy became an avid golfer.

He and his wife Beth moved from Blakely to Statesboro 13 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hixon Giles and Maebelle Everson Giles.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Giles “Beth” of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy Giles Marsh and Travis Marsh of Statesboro; a grandson, Colby Marsh a granddaughter, Krista Marsh; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Eugene H. Giles and Bettie Giles of Blakely; his sister, Joyce Corbitt of Charlotte, NC; three nephews; one niece and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Eastern Heights Baptist Church, 23805 U.S. Hwy 80 East, Statesboro, Ga. 30461 or First United Methodist Church of Blakely, P.O. Box 265, Blakely, Ga. 39823.

Deaconess Annie Percell

Deaconess Annie M. Percell, age 74, answered the master’s call, Sunday morning, February 21, 2021 at the Syl-View Health Care Center. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Sonny “Man” Hagins and the late Mamie Johnson Hagins.

Deaconess Annie Percell

Georgia and was a devoted member of the Pine Grove Holiness Church where she served as a deaconess. She was retired from the Lakeside Café (Dining Commons) Georgia Southern University.

Her memories are left to be cherished by: her children, Daisy (Jeremiah) Key, Brooklet, GA, Gregory Percell and Craig Percell both of Portal, GA. her siblings, Mac Hagins and Roosevelt (Alma) Hagins, both of Portal, GA and Judy McCary, Tampa, Fl. 14, grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.

Linda Woodard Loveless

Linda Woodard Loveless, age 73, died Sunday, February 21, 2021 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

Linda was a native of Bulloch County. In her early years, she loved spending time with family

and raising her boys. Later, she became Mema to Cason. Being Mema and catching up with friends at Longhorn and Eagle Creek Brewery were her greatest joys! She greeted everyone with a smile and never passed up the opportunity to help an animal or person in need. She was an avid reader, loved music and everything she did in life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Loveless, fiancé John Stephen Carlisle, brother Larry Woodard, son-in-law Trebor McDowell-Akins and all of her beloved dogs.
Surviving are her sons Carl Akins and Clint (Julie) Akins, grandson Cason Akins, brother Danny (Allie) Woodard, sister Carol (William) Southwell, many nieces and nephews and very dear friends.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Gladys Parker Williams

Mrs. Gladys Parker Williams age 78, passed into eternal rest, Sunday morning, February 21, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Screven County, Georgia to the late Lester and Derecca Kent Parker.

She received her formal education in the public school system of Bulloch County and was a faithful member of the Horse Creek United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the choir. She was a former employee of Vandy’s Bar-B-Que and retired from Pecan Manor Nursing Home.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Williams, Sr., children, Frank Williams, Sr., Benjamin (Tony) Williams and Ernest Williams; siblings, Lester Parker, Jr., Louise Kemp, Ricky Parker and Teresa Parker.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Cynthia Rich-Allen, Statesboro, GA, sisters, Sarah Hughes and Gearlean (Eugene) Johnson both of Statesboro, GA, brothers, Waymon Parker, Statesboro, GA and Wilber (Beverly) Parker, Far Rockaway, NY, 4 grandchildren, Melanie Silvia, Cornelius Rich, Jasmine Rich and Tiffany Rich, all of Statesboro, GA, several great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Lorene (Jimmy) Bryant, Frances Parker and Donna Parker both of Statesboro, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jerry Lee Hunter

On Saturday February 21, 2021, Jerry Hunter passed away at age 51 related to a motor vehicle accident with his significant other Christa Cleland by his side.

Jerry was born August 20, 1969 to Orville “Eddie” Hunter and Viola Spalding of Corydon, IN.

He was a graduate of Corydon High School and Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelors of Education, and moved to Georgia in 2012.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Orville. He is survived by his 3 children Jon-Robert, Isabella, and Gabrielle all of Statesboro, GA, his mother Viola and 3 siblings: Chris, LeaAnn, and Samantha of Corydon, IN.
Jerry was an avid lover of Michigan football, KISS, Dungeons & Dragons roll playing, cooking, and reading.
Services will be held Tuesday March 2, 2021 graveside at the Screven Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m. Flowers may be sent to Joiner-Anderson Funeral home of Sylvania, GA or donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Dora Unger Harvey

Dora Unger Harvey, age 91, died Monday, February 22, 2021 surrounded by her family in Statesboro, Georgia.

Dora was born in Canada and moved to the United States in 1964. She spent 45 years in

Tucson, Arizona before moving with her husband to Statesboro, Georgia in 2019 to live with her daughter. She loved quilting and needle work, church and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of Amphi Bible Baptist Church in Tucson and Nevils Trinity Baptist Church.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the care they received from the nurses and chaplain of Bethany Hospice of Claxton, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by brothers Heinrich Unger, Diedrich Unger and Herman Unger.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years Frank Harvey, daughters Fran Wade (Loyd), Statesboro, GA and Judith Ann (Ron) Wetterlund Spring Lake Park, MN; grandchildren Travis Wade, Jason Wade, Sandra Kane, Rolund Wetterlund, Ryan Wetterlund, Robert Wetterlund and Reuben Wetterlund and eight great grands.

Robert Floyd Futch

God called home Robert Floyd Futch, 61, on February 23, 2021. He was a wonderful, much-loved husband, father, son, and brother.

Floyd was born March 9, 1959, in Warner Robins, Georgia to Rufus and Judy Zetterower

Futch. He graduated from Statesboro High School, class of 1978. He began his working career at Statesboro Telephone Company, then formed his own company, Southern Voice and Data. Presently, he was working at Georgia Southern University as their telecommunications engineer. He was one of 7,500 in the world with an RCDD. RCDD credential holders serve the ITS industry with expertise in the design, implementation and integration of ITS and its related infrastructure. He was very proud of his work and was very meticulous in his designs.

He was a faithful member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church and member of the Beamon Newsome Class under Jack Brannen and Sonny Granger and then a member of the Frank Williams Class under the guidance of Arthur Woodrum.

His interests included family, fishing, gardening, and driving the tractor. He loved spending time with his family and thoroughly enjoyed going to GSU Eagle baseball games. He was a quick wit and was able to have everyone laughing. He loved to do practical jokes. He loved his new dog, Fred, and watching YouTube videos on how to…do everything. He was a master carpenter and made many tables, frames, and other wooden items.  He was a good Samaritan to all he met. He leaves behind many wonderful friends.

Floyd is survived by his lovely (that was how he introduced her) wife, Lynn Deal Futch of 38 years; daughter, Sally Marie Futch; mother, Judy Zetterower Futch; brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Kim Futch; sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and John David Donaldson; mother-in-law, Sally Akins Deal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stacy and Liz Underwood.  Several nieces (Hunter and Lindsay Futch, Madelyn Love) and nephews (John Underwood, Chad Love, Hayden and Luke Futch) and his uncle, Owen Zetterower.

Pallbearers will be John Underwood, Ryne Brannen, Joey Godbee, Sam Robinson, Trent Sikes, Ron Stalnaker, Rob Swift, Mike Trapnell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Beamon Newsome and Frank I. Williams Class.

Gerald “Jerry” Robbins

Gerald ( Jerry ) Robbins (80 ) long-time resident of Statesboro passed away February 25, 2021 after a short illness at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.  Jerry was a long-time resident of Bulloch County and business owner of Robbins Mechanical Contracting and Main Street Storage. While calling Bulloch County home,  his heart was always in neighboring Screven County where he spent most of  his life with family and friends enjoying the outdoors.

Jerry had many passions. Flying was an early passion of his, spending many tranquil years in the sky and on occasion dragging his wheels through treetops. Jerry was a founding member of the Bulloch Bowmen and spent over 50 years with the group enjoying fellowship, hunting, and fishing trips all over the southeast. Jerry was a master mason and member of Ogeechee Lodge #213 and was proud to call the members, brothers. Jerry was the Real McCoy, an original that never met a person that did not call him a friend after talking with him a few minutes. He always had a tall tale or a funny story that left you laughing and leaving with a smile on your face. He will be missed.

Jerry is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Maxine Robbins; his sons, Jeff Robbins (Denise) and Barry Robbins (Judi); his daughter, Jeri Lisa Robbins; four grandchildren, Matthew Robbins (Bri), Anna Moughalian (Matthew), Abby Robbins and Jordan Robbins; and two great grandchildren, Piper Mae and Harper Lee.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Robbins, Matthew Robbins, Carlton Robbins, Craig Evans, George Robbins and Thomas Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Bulloch Bowmen.

Christine Lastinger Groover

Mrs. Christine Lastinger Groover, age 86, died on Friday, February 26th 2021 at her home in Newington, GA. Christine was born on October 13th 1934 in Bulloch County to the late Mr. Mark D. Lastniger and Mrs. Anniemae Hagans Lastinger. She was a Christian, a loving wife and mother to their five children, and loving grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Groover, and her siblings, Mark Lastinger Jr., Daniel Lastinger, Julian Lastinger, and Lillian Steele.

She is survived by her five children, Delora and Donnie Schnorr, Barbara Groover, Linda Brown, James and Louise Groover, and Christy Groover, 16 grandchildrem, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and her two brothers, Doy Lastinger and Emmit Lastinger.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 1:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson with Rev. Jody Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Fred K. Ethridge

Mr. Fred K. Ethridge, age 88, died on Friday February 26th, 2021 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. He was born in the Hopeulikit Community to the late Mr. Felton Ethridge and Mrs. Ola Bailey Ethridge. He received his formal education in the Bulloch County School system and was a graduate of Portal High School. He served his country in the United States Army as Corporal in the 4th Infantry Regiment and 59th Engineer Company in Alaska from 1953 until 1955. He was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a farmer and owner of Ethridge Farms. He was also the owner of Heavy Equipment Construction, having built over 392 ponds and other construction projects around Bulloch County and in his last years, was asssited by his grandson Shannon Ethridge. Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Alice Ethridge, and a half brother, David T. Bailey.

He is survived by his son, Stacey Ethridge and fiancé Jody Mooney, his grandson, Shannon Ethridge and fiancé Pamela Carter, his granddaughter, Christian Ethridge, five great-grandchildren, Landon, Lawton, Branson, Blaklyn, and Mary Ethridge, all of Statesboro, his sister, Faye Collins of Pooler, GA, and brother, Ray Ethridge of Statesboro, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson with Pastor Thomas Hendrix and Rev. Jerry Spells officiating.

Interment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Morris Prince, Landon Ethridge, Clay Mills, Glen Womack, Craig Hendrix, and Adam Thompson.
