School district reopens transfer requests for high school families

Families of Bulloch County Schools’ high school students will have another opportunity to request a school transfer for their child.

The transfer window will re-open at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, and will remain open through 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7. If you have a child who will be in grades 9-12 at Portal Middle High, Statesboro High, or Southeast Bulloch High School, you may make a request to transfer your child to another high school within the district via the online link when it opens at www.bullochschools.org/schoolchoice

The school district will first look at the net effect of all of the requests it receives before it commits to the approval of any requests.  A lottery drawing has been tentatively scheduled for July 8, if one is needed, and any decision letters would be mailed by July 16.  Again, the school district will take all requests into consideration before it commits to any approvals. This may result in no approvals, lottery draws, or all requests being approved.

After a review of the number of high school students who have chosen to use the district’s Virtual Learning Program or dual enroll at an area post-secondary institution, it was determined that additional space may be available at some high schools.
