Marie Moore Porter

Mrs. Marie Porter, born Marie Moore on November 16, 1942, in Sylvania, GA, to her parents, the late Thomas Moore, Sr., and Ruby Thompson Moore, passed away on March 17, 2024, at her residence in Statesboro, GA, after a brief illness. She was a beloved soul who graced this world with her presence for many years.

Marie dedicated her career to retail sales, where her impeccable customer service skills shone brightly. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Educated in the Screven County school system, Marie carried herself with grace and intelligence throughout her life.

Her personality was truly remarkable – exceedingly kind, loving, and caring. Marie’s genuine compassion brought comfort to those around her and created lasting connections with family and friends.

Marie is survived by her loving husband James Porter of Statesboro, GA; devoted daughter Yvonne Porter of Boston, MA; cherished granddaughter and caregiver Asia Madison of Statesboro, GA; and siblings Lula Statum, Thomas Moore Jr., Joseph Moore, Mildred Pate, Mary Bufford, and Rylance Moore.

Marie Porter’s legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing she was cherished by many, and her memory will be eternal.

A public viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home. The family will receive guests for the family visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Porter will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Horse Creek United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, GA. with Rev. Perry Medley, Pastor/Officiating.

Interment will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home, LLC is in charge of final arrangements.
