Mr. Charles Joe Owens

Charles Joe Owens, 45, of Sylvania, GA passed at his residence. He was born in Houston, TX and in 1986 he and his family made Screven County their home. In his youth he enjoyed playing baseball and attended Four Square Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed shooting his guns and hunting. He also raised quail, chickens, and a garden annually. He was employed as an industrial mechanic with Koyo Manufacturing and had farmed with his father until his death in 2007. In 2015 he became a Mason and member of Sylvania Lodge #307 and in 2018, a Shriner. And most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fredrick Owens. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Marcie and Billy Blackburn of Sylvania, GA; mother, Libby Johnston of Sheppard, TX; brothers and sister-in-law, Perry Allen and Rhonda Thorne of Onalaska, TX and Jeffrey Wayne Thorne of Sheppard, TX; nieces and nephews, Evan and Jeremy Hall of Virginia Beach, VA, Bonnie Sarah Blackburn of Statesboro, Shane Thorne, and Jessica Thorne, both of Arizona, Abigail Stockwell of Statesboro, Brayden Brown, Evan Cane Brown, and Bella Jay Gordon, all of Sylvania; great nieces, Olyvia Hillscher, Amelia Hillscher, Billie Hall, and Jackie Hall; and a godson, Uriah Owens.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00am in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Wall officiating.

The family will receive friends an hour prior. Private interment will be held in the Screven Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Heath Thompson, Elijah Owens, Andy Owens, Joshua Brown, Ronnie Bazemore, and Barry Waters.
