Mr. James Alfonza Hendley was born November 22, 1953, in Bulloch County Georgia to the late William James Hendley and Nell J. Hendley. He received his formal education in the Bulloch County School System and was a graduate of the Southeast Bulloch High School class of 1971. He later attended Savannah State College where he was a member of the football team.
Mr. Hendley was a former employee of ITT Grinnell and was a truck driver for Hendley’s Trucking. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. James A. Hendley, a devoted and loving father and son, entered rest Wednesday, November 8, 2023, after a long illness at the Thunderbolt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Savannah, Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his father, William James Hendley, a sister and several brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Ashley McBride, Metter, GA, James Quinton Hendley, Statesboro, GA, Quintia Gregory, of Louisiana; Pedeatha Lonon, Pembroke, GA, Lisa Goodman, Philadelphia, PA, Vontreasa Hendley Williams, Tampa, FL, Chadrick Meridy, Phoenix City, AL, and Benjamin Jackson, Statesboro, GA; his mother, Nell J. Hendley, Dublin, GA; sisters, Cynthia Smith, Killen, TX and Marilyn Walker, Gulfport, MS; several grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. James A. Hendley, will be held 3 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
