Margaret Lanier “Margie” Way, age 104, died December 7, 2023, at home in Madisonville, LA. She was the fifth child of seven born to Bascom S. and Eudora Ann (Bradham) Lanier in Jenkins County Georgia on February 9, 1919. Margie married Walter P. Way Jr. on August 15, 1945. In their years together, they lived in: Holly Hill, South Carolina, Kansas City, Missouri, Marietta, Georgia, Sunnyvale, California, Savannah, Georgia, and after Walter’s death, Margie lived in Mesa, Arizona, Raleigh, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, Pelham, Alabama, and then Madisonville, Louisiana. Margie is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be buried next to her husband in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County, Georgia. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro, Georgia. A graveside service and burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank her sitters and St. Tammany Health System Hospice team for the wonderful care they provided.
