Statesboro, GA
In loving memory of Robinette (Robin) Sabra Russell, who left her family and friends on April 7, 2024, while on vacation with family in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Loving mother of Nicole and husband Brad Lambert of Parry Sound, Ontario and Todd and wife Jenny Golding of Statesboro Georgia. Cherished grandmother of Mason, Chelsea, Jack and Emma. Predeceased by her first husband, Paul Frederick Golding (2001); her second husband, Stan Russell (2021); and her brother, William Argyle (1982).
Robin was born to William and Frances (nee Heywood) Commins on May 28, 1944. She was raised in Manitowaning, Ontario. She attended Alma College in St. Thomas, where she studied Finance. In her teens, Robin worked for her parents at Manitowaning Lodge, until it was sold in 1961. After leaving college, Robin lived in London, Ontario and worked in the banking industry. Robin married Paul in 1962 and moved to Thamesford, Ontario where she raised her children. She worked for Scotiabank in the London branch for most of her career.
Robin spent many years travelling to Manitoulin Island for summer vacations and for Christmas with her mom and family. After Paul’s passing, she moved to the cottage on Lake Manitou, but couldn’t stand the winters that far north.
She became a “Snowbird” and traveled South each winter, spending most of her time in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It was there that she met Stan and they became snowbirds together spending the summers fishing on the Island and the winters walking the beach in Florida.
She loved gardening and entertaining the people she met over the years, forming many lasting friendships.
Her grandchildren were deeply loved. At this time, a Funeral Service will not be held.
A celebration of life for Robin will occur sometime this summer on Manitoulin Island.
