Matthew H. Lovett & Son’s Funeral Home announces the passing of Ms. Susan Hagins, age 63, of Chicago, IL. Ms. Hagins passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Ms. Hagins was born October 19, 1960, to the parentage of Eliza Hagins and James Jackson in Screven County, Georgia. She departed from this earthly sojourn to be present with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Susan attended and graduated from the Screven County School System. After completing school, she later relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Susan was employed by the Chicago Police Department as a crossing guard. She was also a member of the New Beginnings Community Fellowship Ministries.
Ms. Hagins was preceded in death by her mother, the late Eliza Hagins, and her father the late James Jackson, three sisters, Rosemary Hagins, Dorothy Davis, and Patricia Johnson, two brothers, Robert Earl Jackson, and Jessie James Jackson.
Susan’s fondest memories will forever be cherished by her only daughter, Mia Whitfield (Cory Madison) of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Riley, Layla, and Myles Madison all of Chicago, IL; seven brothers, Overseer Emory (Rosa) Hagins, Waldo (Veronica) Jackson, and Johnny Jackson all of Sylvania, GA; Ervin Hagins, Antonio Hagins, and Virgil Jackson of Statesboro, GA; Nathaniel Jackson of Atlanta, GA; four sisters, Marchal Hagins and Judith (Bobby) Wallace of Statesboro, GA; Margie Perry of Rincon, GA; and Annette Anderson of Sylvania, GA; three aunts, Martha Mays of Augusta, GA, Evangelist Beatrice (Pastor Larry) Mincey of Statesboro, GA; and Ida Dent of New Jersey; one uncle, Richard (Thelma) Charlton of Texas; Susan also had a special love for her longtime friend, Melvin Major. Ms. Hagins is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. Susan Hagin will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at New Beginning Community Fellowship Ministries, 4235 Willow Hill Road, Portal, GA 30450 with Pastor/Overseer Emory Hagins, officiating.
Inurnment will be held at the Friendship Memorial Park in Sylvania, GA following the funeral service.
