Nunsense Coming to St. Mary’s Little Theatre in October

St. Marys Little Theatre will open its new season with the award-winning Off Broadway show “NUNSENSE” starting October 8 for two weekends and tickets are now on sale.

Chock full of diverse and witty song and dance numbers, satire and physical comedy, “NUNSENSE” charts a course that satiates nearly every comedic taste.

The premise of “Nunsense” is that a few nuns from the convent of the Little Sisters of Hoboken have pooled their talents to produce a benefit. They need to raise money to bury four colleagues who are being stored in their school cafeteria’s freezer. It seems that the cook, Sister Julia, child of God, had mistakenly served a double dose of botulism to the nuns. As one nun explains the incident, “For 52, bon appetite was also bon voyage.”

After a greeting-card sale, there was only enough money to bury 48 sisters, which is why four bodies are in the freezer and a group of nuns are on the stage singing, dancing and offering up some delightfully funny scenarios.

According to Co-Director Gloria Hurley, “Nunsense is the perfect antidote to today’s serious world. Prepare to get your silly on.”
Performances of “NUNSENSE” are October 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7 pm and October 10 and 17 at 2 pm at Theatre by the Trax in St. Marys. There will be a limited number of tickets available to observe safe distancing. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Groups of ten or more get a discount. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stmaryslittletheatre.com or in downtown St. Marys at Once Upon a Bookseller. Cash or check at bookstore please. Call 954-290-9873 for more information.
