Effingham County man arrested after thousands of dollars in drugs seized

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit arrested a man after seizing thousands of dollars in drugs and a firearm after a lengthy investigation.

On November 25, 2024, the ECSO Drug Suppression Unit arrested 37-year-old Jeffrey Taylor, of Effingham County, after a lengthy drug investigation that spanned several counties.

“During the arrest, Taylor brandished a gun at investigators, but the situation was quickly deescalated to avoid the exchange of gunfire,” said Captain Rick Dailey.

The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit seized 711 grams (25oz) (1.5lbs) of Fentanyl, 100 grams (3.5oz) of powder cocaine, 6 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of methamphetamine, and a gun.

The estimated street value of the drugs and gun seized is over $100,000.

Taylor was arrested and faces charges of Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of crack cocaine, Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated assault on law enforcement.
