GBI Arrests Former Toombs County Teacher

A former Toombs County teacher is in custody on criminal charges after a GBI investigation.

On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, GBI agents arrested and charged Chasity Cheyenne Knight, age 25, of Uvalda, GA, with one count of Improper Sexual Contact by Employee, Agent, or Foster Parent; Consent Not a Defense.

The investigation indicates that Knight had a sexual relationship with a student in January of 2024 while employed as a teacher.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to assist with an investigation into possible sexual abuse by a teacher with students in the Toombs County School District.

Police booked Knight into the Toombs County Detention Center.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Eastman at 478-374-6988. Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
