South Georgia Police Chief Arrested for Burglary

A police chief in south Georgia was arrested last week after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated him for Burglary.

The GBI arrested Willacoochee Chief of Police Anthony Williams, 49, of Adel, Georgia, on November 2.

The arrest followed a request to conduct an investigation by the Alapaha Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office on Monday, October 31, 2022.

According to a press release, the preliminary information indicates that Williams burglarized a home on October 11, 2022.

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Williams turned himself in and was booked into the Atkinson County jail, where he has since bonded out on $5,000 bond.

The city also terminated Williams’ employment. 

This investigation is active and ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Alapaha Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
