Gage Dowling has been named the East Georgia State College (EGSC) director of housing and will lead EGSC’s Office of Housing Services for residential students.
Dowling began his career in higher education residential services as a resident assistant at Charleston Southern University, where he earned his B. A. in History. He went on to earn his M.S. in Management from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, while also serving as a housing coordinator for Southwestern. He has eight years of experience as a Director of Residential Services at various colleges and universities in Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
A native of Greer, South Carolina, Dowling is excited to be moving closer to his family, who live in Florida and South Carolina. Away from work, he enjoys playing video games and basketball. His wife, Casey Dowling, is the new Assistant Director of Academic Success at the College. Dowling said about the move, “I am super excited to be in Swainsboro and at East Georgia State College. I was attracted to EGSC due to its size and the great people I met during my interview process.” He added that he was just as excited to work with the East Georgia State College faculty, staff, and student body. He encourages open communication, saying, “If you ever need anything, please let me know!”
“Mr. Dowling’s experience and background in working with students from all walks of life make him an excellent fit for East Georgia State College,” said Sherrie Helms, Associate Vice President for Conduct & Title IX. “Already in his short time here at East Georgia, he has brought us great ideas of innovation and change, and I know that he will serve our students well.”
