East Georgia State College (EGSC) is proud to announce that Robert Grant has been named the new Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Grants at EGSC.

“We are so excited to have Robert join our team at East Georgia and lead the Office of Institutional Advancement. He already has so much enthusiasm to meet students, faculty, staff, and community members. With this enthusiasm and his experience and knowledge, he will be a great asset to EGSC and the local community,” said Dr. David Schecter, president of EGSC.

Grant was raised in a military family and had the privilege of growing up all over the world.  He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in secondary education and history.  Grant has spent his whole career in some facet of education. He started out as a high school social studies teacher and then found his way to the nonprofit sector in development at Junior Achievement of Georgia.  He then made the move to higher education as the Director of Development at the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University.

Grant has lived in Effingham County for almost 20 years where he served as a school board member and on the boards of many nonprofits in the Coastal Empire.  He is a graduate of Leadership Effingham and Leadership Southeast Georgia and a member of the Savannah Downtown Rotary Club.  He enjoys being outdoors, kayaking, swimming, biking, and walking.  A lifelong harmonica player, he plays in his church on Sundays.  He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Guyton with their five children.

In this role, Grant will provide leadership and strategic focus to further the college’s development, alumni relations, marketing communications, and engagement. He will work with the EGSC Foundation and its members to implement strategies to increase private funding for college programs and capital needs, as well as secure gifts and grants from private foundations and government sources.
