The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said this week that agents arrested a high school teacher following allegations of sexual battery.
GBI agents arrested 69-year-old James Steel of Leesburg, GA this week. Steel was also a teacher at Harris County High School. The state agency got involved after the Hamilton Police Department asked the GBI to investigate allegations that Steel had inappropriate contact with multiple students. That investigation launched on May 9 and a grand jury indicted steel on November 14.
He was booked at the Harris County Jail on one count of sexal battery of a person under 16 years of age.
