Search for Suspect Accused of Killing Alamo, Ga Police Officer Ends

The search for the man accused of killing an Alamo, Ga police officer has come to an end, authorities say.

43-year-old Damien Anthony Ferguson, AKA Luke Ferguson, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon. The GBI is expected to provide additional information shortly.

Ferguson reportedly shot and killed 26-year-old Dylan Harrison outside the Alamo Police Department early Saturday morning. Harrison was a part-time Alamo Police Officer and was working his first shift with the department Friday night. He was also a full-time Oconee Drug Task Force Agent out of Eastman, Georgia. He has been in law enforcement since 2018. He leaves behind a wife and a six-month-old baby.

Ferguson has a lengthy criminal history and is a convicted felon, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He served time in Coffee County Correctional Facility for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Simple Battery, and Theft. In 2020, the Georgia Office of Insurance & Fire Safety sought warrants for his arrest in an Alamo arson.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was the lead agency on the manhunt for Ferguson, though a number of agencies assisted in the search, including: Alamo Police Department, Wheeler County Sheriff’s office, Lauren’s County Sheriff’s Office, Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Telfair County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, McRae-Helena Police Department, Oconee Drug Task Force, Eastman Police Department, Oconee District Attorney’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, the Department of Community Supervision, Georgia Department of Corrections, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service SE Regional Task Force.

On Saturday, the GBI announced a $17,500 for information that led to the arrest of Ferguson.

  1. I am so sorry for the young Police Officer’s family and all who loved him.

The guy who had hate in his heart shot and killed the Officer out side of the police station!!

I definitely believe in an eye for an eye!!
