The Georgia House of Representatives took up an unusual measure Monday afternoon – a bill to allow hunters to hunt in fluorescent pink garments.
House Bill 927, sponsored by State Representative Leesa Hagan, seeks to expand the garments allowed by people who are hunting feral hogs, bears, and deer in Georgia.
Current law requires that hunters wear “a total of at least 500 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange material as an outer garment and such material or garment is worn above the waistline.” The rule applies to anyone who is hunting as well as people who accompany those who are hunting. Failure to wear these garments is a violation of the law and can yield a citation.
This bill by Hagan simply adds fluorescent pink to the list of acceptable clothing colors.
The bill also extends the air gun rules for primitive hunting seasons from 2025 to 2028.
HB 927 passed 166-1. Specifics on vote counts are not available until the following day.
