Georgia Southern University will hold five Spring 2024 Commencement ceremonies this week for more than 4,200 graduates from the University’s 10 colleges. Graduating students will receive associates, baccalaureate, master’s, specialist or doctoral degrees.
Commencement speakers include:
- Mackenzie Anderson (’07), global director of Corporate Communications at Nike
- Alton M. Standifer, Ph.D. (’12, ’14), vice provost for Inclusive Excellence and chief of staff to the provost at the University of Georgia (UGA)
- Kim Greene, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Georgia Power
- Chris Ahearn (’09), director of research and trade development for the World Trade Center Savannah
- Candicee Childs, M.D., (’19) an emerging beacon of inspiration in the fields of medicine and literature. At present, she is a resident physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, with a focus on child and adolescent psychiatry
STATESBORO – Undergraduate and Graduate Ceremony
When: Tuesday, May 7, at 10 a.m.
Who: Undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Arts and Humanities, College of Science and Mathematics, Waters College of Health Professions, and Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health will participate in this ceremony. Mackenzie Anderson, global director of Corporate Communications at Nike, will speak to graduates.
Where: Allen E. Paulson Stadium on the Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus, 207 Lanier Drive, Statesboro
STATESBORO – Undergraduate and Graduate Ceremony
When: Wednesday, May 8, at 10 a.m.
Who: Undergraduate and graduate students from the Parker College of Business and College of Education will participate in this ceremony. Alton M. Standifer, Ph.D., vice provost for Inclusive Excellence and chief of staff to the provost at UGA, will speak to graduates.

STATESBORO – Undergraduate and Graduate Ceremony
When: Thursday, May 9, at 10 a.m.
Who: Undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing will participate in this ceremony. Kim Greene, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Georgia Power, will speak to graduates.
Where: Allen E. Paulson Stadium on the Georgia Southern Statesboro Campus, 207 Lanier Drive, Statesboro
SAVANNAH – Undergraduate and Graduate Ceremonies
When: Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Who: Undergraduate and graduate students from each of the University’s colleges who wish to graduate in Savannah will participate in these ceremonies. Chris Ahearn, director of research and trade development for the World Trade Center Savannah, will speak to graduates during the 10 a.m. ceremony and Candicee Childs, M.D., resident physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, will speak to graduates during the 3 p.m. ceremony.
