Georgia Police K9 Foundation Raises $150K at Statesboro Fundraiser

The Georgia Police K9 Foundation had a doggone successful fundraiser Saturday night in Statesboro.

The organization reported Sunday that the 2021 Evening for the K9s 2021 fundraiser raised $150,000 with more than 1,000 people in attendance throughout the night. 46 states were represented with 25 K9 teams present as well.

The Georgia K9 Retirement Foundation was founded in 2016 by a group of K9 handlers in Statesboro, GA, who wanted to help provide veterinary assistance to retired k9s. Recognizing that a number of police departments lack the funding to support active duty k9s and can almost never support retired dogs, the organization sought to raise funds and provide resources to handlers across the state. In 2018, the mission expanded and the Georgia Police K9 Foundation was launched in an effort to assist active duty k9s as well.
