Early voting begins Monday for the runoff election on June 18th. In Effingham County, two races will appear on the ballot.
In the Republican primary runoff race for Tax Commissioner, Kelly Hoffner will face Daniel Rodewolt. Hoffner garnered 43.91% (2,680) of the vote on May 21st with Rodewolt landing 42.64% (3,554) and Tony Sapp getting 13.44% (805).
On the nonpartisan ticket, the State Court Judge race remains undecided with Melissa Calhoun and Steven Yekel facing off. In the May 21st election, Yekel landed 42.2% (2,988) of the vote with Calhoun getting 29.18% (2,066) and Raymond Dickey getting 28.62% (2,026).
The two races will appear on the June 18th ballot, but early voting is also available June 10-14 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Effingham County Elections Office.
Only voters who cast a ballot in the Republican primary on May 21st can vote in the runoff election on June 18th. Democrat and nonpartisan voters are ineligible for casting a ballot in the Republican primary runoff. Nonpartisan races, like State Court Judge, will appear on the Republican ballot, however.
Should you request a Nonpartisan ballot in Effingham County, you will only be able to cast a ballot in the State Court Judge race as the Tax Commissioner race will not appear.
