Glynn Co. Bans Alcohol on Beaches for GA-FL weekend

Press release from Glynn County

Many visitors are anticipated to make their way to the Golden Isles for the annual Georgia/Florida game held in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Glynn County would like to encourage everyone to be safe and responsible during their stay in Glynn County. There will be an increased level of public safety officials present in the area to enforce applicable laws in order to help ensure that everyone is safe.

As a reminder, the legal drinking age is 21 years old to consume alcohol in the State of Georgia, and this law will be enforced. However, alcohol will be banned completely on St. Simons Island beaches for the weekend of October 29-30, 2021. We encourage you to enjoy your time in the Golden Isles responsibly and services such as Uber and Lyft are available in Glynn County. You may also choose to use a taxi or a provided shuttle service. Should you decide to walk, please use the sidewalk for your safety and the safety of others, especially during the evening and night when visibility is low.

Please do not leave any trash behind. Our beaches and their abundant wildlife are important assets to all of us. Please use the beach responsibly. Glynn County has adopted a Trash-Free Beach initiative, however, trash and recycling receptacles will be available on the beach for your use on Friday only. If you do not see an available receptacle, please carry your trash with you to the nearest parking area where receptacles are located. In addition, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful will be hosting the 14th annual Community Georgia/Florida beach sweep on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. to help keep our beaches clean. The public is encouraged to participate.
