DNR’s Beach Week returns June 26-28 on Jekyll, Tybee, St. Simons

With summer in full swing, Georgia’s beautiful beaches are prime destinations for both visitors and residents.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites everyone to join the festivities and educational activities during this year’s “Beach Week.”

This event offers beach-goers the chance to discover the natural wonders of Georgia’s coastline and interact with staff members and game wardens from DNR’s Coastal Resources and Law Enforcement divisions.

Event Schedule:

Each day, activities will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring special surprises, new exhibitors, and life wildlife.

Event Highlights:

  • Educational Exhibits: Learn about unique and misunderstood species and the importance of litter-free beaches.
  • Sea Turtle Awareness: Discover how to ensure safe passages for nesting and newly hatched sea turtles.
  • Interactive Activities: Engage with experts from various organizations.

Participating DNR partner organizations include the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Tidelands Nature Center, UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, Glynn County Recreation and Parks, Georgia Department of Public Health, Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve, Burton 4-H, and Tybee Marine Science Center.

“Beach Week is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the community and highlight the significance of our coastal ecosystems,” said Jennifer Kline, CRD’s Beach Week coordinator. “We are excited to showcase the amazing natural resources and wildlife that make our beaches so special.”

Join us for a week of fun, learning, and celebration as we enjoy and protect Georgia’s stunning coastal environments.
