Soldier Killed in Helicopter Crash at Fort Stewart

A helicopter crash at Fort Stewart claimed the life of a soldier early Wednesday morning, officials say.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. on March 30. Two UH-60 helicopters collided at Wright Army Airfield. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

UH-60’s are Black Hawk utility tactical transport helicopters used by the Army.

Officials did not immediately release the name of the individual who perished, as family members are still in the process of being notified. Officials did say the solider was assigned to the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.
