Sen. Jon Ossoff recently visited Gwinnett Technical College, met with students, and spoke about his push to make technical schools and job training programs tuition-free.
“I am pushing as Congress considers this reconciliation budget that we pass legislation that will make technical school and job training programs 100% tuition-free for people in Georgia and Americans across the country,” Sen. Ossoff said. “We spend a lot of time in the policy debate focused on four-year college. We don’t focus enough on skills training, technical training — precisely what this institution delivers for Georgians. Today I sat down with students; I met with young people who are gaining skills so that they can pursue careers in health care, in the automotive industry, and careers that will deliver a high-standard of living and good wages and benefits. For a lot of people in this country, a welding certificate, health care certification, HVAC certificate, that can be the ladder from $12/hour to $30 or $40 or $50 an hour with benefits and a stable career.”
